The architecture of the Tashkent Metro is one of the most beautiful in the world, and it is a traditional destination for tourists and guests...
Hotels
A popular retreat for both leisure tourists and business travelers, Hotel City Palace serves all guests with a touch of business-like efficiency and convenience. The hotel was a chain of Sheraton before, it's a good located property, nice staff and big rooms, however the rooms need a renovation as the peeling wallpaper and carpets have gone kind of old. Some guests thought though that after changing the name and management from Sheraton to Markaziy and then to City Palace, the hotel has lost its whole prestige, service level, proficiency and courtesy. The hotel seems to be occupied mostly by tourist groups from India and can be noisy sometimes.
This property boasts 251 elegantly appointed accommodation units (172 Standard Single rooms, 50 Standard Twin rooms, 18 Studio Rooms, 7 Executive Suites, 1 Presidential Suite, 3 Handicapped Rooms) that are equipped with all the essential amenities to ensure you utmost comfort. Rooms are quite spacious with distinct decor and prove to be your ideal zone to relax and unwind. Beds are comfortable, nice bathroom with plenty of hot water and good water pressure, quiet AC. There is a fixed hairdryer in the bathroom. Free wifi (though sometimes a bit slow). Rooms are very clean with cleaners changing the bed linen and towels on a daily basis! Surprisingly and very unfortunate they have no kettle and an iron in the rooms, but free bottled water. Minibars in the rooms are empty.
One of the finest business hotels in Tashkent and is perfect for the executives who are on their business tour. Hotel also has 7 Executive Suites and one Presidential Suite for senior decision makers and high ranking officials. The Hotel has handicapped access and non-smoking rooms. The bar in the lobby is a bit small with not much seating and kind of pricey for Uzbekistan. The hotel prioritises wedding parties using the hotel for photo shoots, so it might be a good experience in the afternoon sitting in the bar, sipping the beer and watching newlywed's photo sessions.
Indoor pool is ok, the sauna and the steam room had seen better days but acceptable.
Staff is pleasant and always ready to help, though frequent customers confirm that since the hotel lost its Sheraton chain branding couple of years ago the standards of service along with the prices dropped noticeably. Located a bit further down the street Dedeman Silk Road Tashkent hotel exceeds City Palace in many aspects from nicer facilities to better value, but it is still a good choice to stay. It feels very much a former Sheraton property though with the service levels on a much lower level, nevertheless, it is still one of the best hotels in town, after the Intercontinental and the Dedaman Silk Road Tashkent. Decor of the hotel is more in Russian style rather than modern with heavily Russian influenced dark wood furniture.
Very good buffet breakfast with plenty of choice to please any exquisite customer (cereals, juices, yogurt and cold meats etc. and salads, hot food like noodles, vegetables, chicken). Make sure to try omelette, it is tasty beyond description. The slight problems is that they evidently have not enough staff in the morning so everything runs out quickly and you can wait for ages for coffee, plates, cutlery, bread, etc.
The hotel also offers excellent dining facilities (there are 6 restaurants in hotel premises) that cater to your important social events.
Amudaryo Restaurant. The in-house multi-cuisine restaurant serves an irresistible array of Uzbek and Continental delicacies.
The Olive Grove Restaurant.Unforgettable dining experience of Mediterranean specialties. Guests can enjoy some delicacies and refreshing drinks at the restaurant, which is also an ideal place to relax after a tiring day.
Library Bar. The hotel's cocktail lounge and bar finely blends privacy and exclusivity and serves the choicest collection of exotic drinks.
Omar Khayyam Bar. Located in the lobby, this well stocked bar serves a good range of light snacks and beverages in a cozy ambience for you to feast on.
Kebab Khonah. This is a barbeque restaurant located by the outdoor swimming pool. Open on weekend evenings, Kebab Khonah is a nice place to enjoy Tashkent nights with delicious barbeque specialties and live entertainment.
City Palace is a good hotel, but Tashkent has few better ones in the same price range!
