Uzbekistan to cooperate with the UAE in establishing of medical tourism in the country

As we have been posting on our website, Uzbekistan has been working on establishing new tourist destinations for those traveling to Uzbekistan for tourism and business purposes. Efforts are being made in developing and promoting such sectors as ecotourism, gastro tourism, mountains and recreational tourism, as well as medical tourism to attract more travelers to visit Uzbekistan based on various interests and preferences. Today, besides offering the popular tourist destinations in Uzbekistan such as Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, our country invites travelers of various categories with the newly created holiday destinations to enjoy.

As one of the efforts made in this regard, a meeting was held at the State Committee for Tourism Development of Uzbekistan with representatives of the leading healthcare company of the UAE, with the aim of reviewing the opportunities for cooperation in developing medical tourism cooperation between the two countries.

Issues of developing medical tourism in Uzbekistan are being discussed in Tashkent with the largest participant in the UAE healthcare market – Burjeel Holding.

“The development of medical tourism in Uzbekistan is one of the most important areas of the industry as a whole,” mentioned Umid Shadiev, chairman of the State Committee for Tourism Development of Uzbekistan, during the meeting.

As a result of the negotiations, the Emirati delegation was invited to the Global Investment Forum as part of the 25th session of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), which will be held this year in Samarkand. Uzbekistan will host the event in the ancient city of Samarkand on 16-20 October this year.

Founded in 2007, Burjeel Holding is a leading integrated private healthcare provider in the UAE with operations in Oman and other Gulf countries. Burjeel Holding, as the largest healthcare player in the UAE, operates a platform of 61 facilities including hospitals, clinics and specialized medical centers.
