An exhibition of artist Inge Schmidt and photographer Krzysztof Plaza about Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage has launched in Berlin, Germany. The event is organized by the Q Gallery Berlin in cooperation with the Embassy of Uzbekistan and will run through 19 November.
The opening day of the event was attended by German officials, representatives of the general public, art and culture lovers, as well as local media representatives.
At the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Uzbek side represented by the Ambassador of Uzbekistan Dilshod Akhatov expressed gratitude to Inge Hildebrandt Schmidt and photographer Krzysztof Plaza, who captured beautiful illustrations and photographs of Uzbekistan's nature, historical and cultural monuments of Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva and Tashkent.
According to the statement of the authors of the exhibition, their works recognized three jewels of the East, namely Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, mentioning this Uzbek ancient cities act not only as important geographical points, but also as cultural centers that played an important role in the history of the Great Silk Road.
The works of the exhibition combine elements of traditional and modern art, not only giving visitors aesthetic pleasure, but also give a deep understanding of the history and everyday life in Uzbekistan.
The opening ceremony consisted of the poems performed during the event in Uzbek and German, presentation of Uzbek national dances and Uzbek dishes, as well as illustrated brochures reflecting the tourist sites of Uzbekistan.
Closer to the end of the exhibition, on November 15, a special meeting with the artist and photographer of will be organized as part of the event. During the meeting, the authors will talk about their trip to Uzbekistan this year that has inspired them to their works, and will also answer questions from participants wishing to visit Uzbekistan as tourists.
Inge Schmidt mentioned that they had a tour to Uzbekistan as tourists as a part of their trip to Central Asia, and are planning to travel to Uzbekistan again, this time to Fergana Valley, another beautiful destination in Uzbekistan.
