Bukhara Palace Hotel Bukhara, Uzbekistan
In the center of noble Bukhara awaits you Bukhara Palace hotel. It is a bit further away from the city center, 30-35 minute walk in the area full with government offices and not densely populated. It is just 10 minute drive to the main tourist sites in the old city. This hotel would not survive long in a ‘western’ city since there are better deals in Bukhara for same the price. Look for the smaller hotels close to the UNESCO world heritage site. There are much more interesting small hotels (locally called B&B) in the centre of the old city.
Although it was built in the 1990s, after independence, the government-owned property has a Soviet ambience and is overrun with tour groups. The reception area of this hotel promises good things to come however the rooms leave a lot to be desired. The walls need a lick of paint, there is no heating and the beds are brick hard. The hotel presents a five star image with a soaring atrium and a large multi-purpose lobby. However, it’s downhill from there. This is more group orientated hotel out of city's centre and with 3 stars maximum.
Accommodation at Bukhara Palace hotel
There are 223 Rooms in total in the hotel including 204 Double, 6 Single, 13 Luxe. Cleanliness of the hotel and the rooms is questionable. The mattresses are very hard as if sleeping on pure wood.Room and bathroom are small and shabby in places and they badly need a makeover. The bed is uncomfortable and the TV would have been dated in the 1980s. The hand towels looks like they have been cut with a scissors from larger ones.Rooms musty, shower eerie and dark. There is no kettle in the room even for a cup of tea; you're expected to have it in the lobby. With the rooms all being around the central atrium it is impossible to get an early night as the sounds of the classical music being played are heard throughout.Rooms are available overlooking the old city, the swimming pool area or the garden walkway of Bukhara city. Suites are with living room and bedroom, separated by foldable glass door.
Dining at Bukhara Palace hotel
The buffet breakfasts are basic and pretty much dry bread with variety of jams doesn’t include any fruit or cereal. Dinner in the hotel is also poor. With a view on the swimming pool and the three story hotel waterfall the bar is providing life classical music in the evenings, giving you the possibility to meet with your partners and friends, letting pass by the events of the day.It is possible to have food and beverages services on request. The Night club can be entered through separate entrances from within and outside the hotel.
