Presentation of touristic potential of Uzbekistan "Discovering the treasures of the ancient Silk Road: Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva", organized by the Permanent Mission of Uzbekistan at United Nations, the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in New York with the support of the Fund "Forum of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan" held in Seattle, USA. Representatives of public and business community of Seattle, tourism companies, as well as students of the University of Washington state attended this presentation. During the presentation it was noted that Uzbekistan, being the cradle of world civilization, for centuries served as a bridge between East and West, bringing together and embodying cultural, scientific and spiritual wealth of mankind. The territory of modern Uzbekistan, along the ancient cities of Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva extended the Silk Road, which was the medium of exchange not only goods but also in culture, languages, customs and traditions of the peoples. Participants also learned from the presentation about modern development of Uzbekistan, the results of the expansion, development and improvement of tourism infrastructure in the country. It was stressed that this practice allows travel industry professionals to get acquainted with touristic facilities, the possibilities of individual regions of the country, as well as services for organizations of interesting touristic programs, including American citizens. It was marked constant increase in the number of tourists from Europe, Asia and the Middle East in Uzbekistan, as well as measures aimed at further strengthening of tourist exchanges with U.S. companies. Series of documentaries that tell about the touristic potential of Uzbekistan, in particular about the possibilities of visiting of our country to get acquainted with the history of ancient Uzbek cities and villages in Central Asia, as well as the culture of the Hellenistic period, related to the campaigns of Alexander of Macedon were shown to guests during the presentation. The great interest aroused guests about touristic routes which pass through the excavations of ancient Buddhist monasteries, the Muslim holy places, great cities and monuments built by Amir Temur. The guests were introduced with the historical and contemporary development of Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva cities. It was noted that the capital of Uzbekistan - Tashkent was declared the capital of Islamic culture in 2007, indicating that the broadest recognition as a center for spiritual, scientific and cultural development of not only Central Asia but also the Muslim world. Materials about the investment and tourism potential of Uzbekistan, historical and cultural sights of the Republic, as well as popular tourist destinations were distributed among guests.
