The United States is growing interest in the unique cultural heritage and tourism opportunities of modern Uzbekistan. Presentation "Discovering Heritage of the Great Silk Road" was organized by the Permanent Mission of Uzbekistan to the UN and the Consulate General of our country in New York with the support of the touristic company «Silk Rod Treasures Tours» in Dover, New Jersey.
The event was held in the Center of the Turkestan-American Association, attended by a large number of guests, including Mayor of Dover, representatives of tourism companies, public, academic and business circles. Films about ancient history, architecture and monuments of the ancient Silk Road cities - Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, which serves as a link between East and West, were shown for participants in the presentation.
It was noted that one of the oldest cities in the world - Tashkent was declared the capital of Islamic culture in 2007. The decision of the International Islamic Organization for Education, Science and Culture (ISESCO) was recognition of the policies in the country to restore cultural monuments and sacred places of worship, preserve and promote the rich spiritual heritage, priceless merit Movarounnahr thinkers and role in world history.
The great interest aroused the audience about the possibilities of modern tourism industry in Uzbekistan, historical and cultural sites as well as popular tourist destinations. There was an atmosphere of oriental hospitality and informality, in which guests can enjoy traditional dishes and sweets generous Uzbek cuisine at the evening. According to many participants, the presentation was a great success; they expressed their admiration of the colorful culture of the Uzbek people and the desire to visit the country, rightly dubbed "Treasures of the Silk Road."
