At exhibition center ExCel in London hosted the 32nd World Tourism Fair (World Travel Market). This is the second scale tourism forum in Europe (after Berlin), held annually since 1980.
It offers participants the opportunity to obtain detailed information about the development and direction of the touristic market, how to ensure a high level of competitiveness of the business as one of the most important annual events in the global tourism industry. All conditions for networking, negotiating and signing lucrative deals created at the fair.
This year's fair was the area about 50,000 square meters, which were presented stands of 230 countries and regions, as well as more than 5,000 exhibiting companies. Work of the fair coverage of over 3,000 media representatives.
National stand of Uzbekistan has been deployed in the Asian Pavilion Exhibition Centre, where a large television screen were shown clips of the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Uzbek people, its modern life and tourist potential of the country. This year ministerial summit was dedicated to the development of the tourism industry in the face of uncertainty. It was attended by ministers of tourism of more than 80 countries, including Uzbekistan, Egypt, Qatar, Norway, Kenya, Mexico, Paraguay, Kenya, Jamaica, Gambia and other countries. The experts at the event were the heads of Tourist Association of the Asia-Pacific region, the World Council of Travel and Tourism and other organizations.
Also, at the session of the World Tourism Organization discussed the problems of restoring the industry after the global economic crisis. It was attended by over 200 heads of state bodies in charge of tourism development, from different countries and representatives of major travel companies. The discussion focused on overcoming the economic crisis, as well as developing a joint action plan to address industry issues.
Also, for the first time in the WTM held a meeting of countries participating in the Working Group UNWTO Silk Road, whose main purpose is to promote the brand's "Silk Road" to the world markets. In this context, information was provided on the work done in the Uzbekistan project "Silk Road" to improve the road infrastructure between the cities of the country.
