Tourism has been and remains the original card of any country. The domestic tourism industry in a short time was able to realize this potential, making Uzbekistan one of the most visited countries of the world-famous brand "Great Silk Road".

The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) of UN appreciates the leading role of Uzbekistan in strengthening of international cooperation for the development of tourism infrastructure on the Great Silk Road, carrying out the work on the wide dissemination of the rich spiritual and cultural heritage, restoration and preservation of ancient monuments and architectural complexes in the country.

The election of Uzbekistan as a member of the Executive Board of the World Tourism Organization from the European Regional Group for 2011-2015 in the framework of the 19th session of UNWTO General Assembly in South Korean city of Gyeongju in October 9, 2011 was clear evidence of broad international recognition of the effectiveness of comprehensive measures for the development of the tourism industry in the country.

Rich tradition, beautiful cities and historical sightseeing of Uzbekistan win the hearts of many foreign tourists. The republic occupies an important place in historical and cultural tourism. About the famous cities of the Great Silk Road, such as Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, turning the country into a real touristic oasis with its more than 4,000 architectural monuments, some of them are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, regularly write foreign media.

In the popular newspapers of Malaysia «New Straits Times» and «Berita Harian» published the article "Uzbekistan - the best country of touristic destination", "Uzbekistan seeks to promote the tourism" and "Country of the ancient cities and unique attractions: the Republic of Uzbekistan began to implement a five-year plan to promote tourism ".
