Tourism industry gives 1.8% of GDP in Uzbekistan

National Company "Uzbektourism" summed up the tourism industry’s activity for the first half of 2011.
The first half of 2011 marked the intensification in the implementation of measures to develop the tourism sector, supporting small business and entrepreneurship, creation of new tourist products, as well as the development of tourism infrastructure in the regions. Through these measures the rate of growth of tourism services increased by 27%, the volume of tourist services by 6.6%.
Since the beginning of the year the number of new economic entities acting in tourism spehere has increased. During the first half of this year 29 new hotels and 71 travel agencies were given licenses to operate in this area.

There are 782 tourism enterprises along with 294 hotels in Uzbekistan.

Several vital measures were taken in order to promote tourism products in foreign markets. As part of a new marketing project - organizing a "mega-info-tours" to Uzbekistan - to guide tourists to our country which attracted 214 new foreign travel companies from Italy, Spain, France, Japan, China, Britain, Russia, Holland, Hungary, Singapore and other countries.
These tours allow tourists to extend the tourist season periods and increase the number of days tourists stay in our country, as well as to show that Uzbekistan is equally attractive in every season and every season is beautiful and interesting on its own way.

Uzbekistan will maintain the first Afghan railway
