International Tourism Fair ITB Berlin 2011 was opened in Berlin on March 9. It is attended by representatives of more than 11 thousand travel firms and companies, experts and scientists from 187 countries of the world. Tourist potential of Uzbekistan is also widely displayed at the event.
Located in the heart of the Great Silk Road, Uzbekistan attracts a huge number of tourists from across the globe thanks to its historical architectural monuments, holy places, picturesque nature, unique culture and traditions.
Now, sport and ecological tourism is subsequently develops in Uzbekistan. The number of mountain climbers and connoisseurs of skiing visiting our country grows from every year. Foreign guests get interesting information about history, culture and traditions of our people.
Uzbekistan subsequently consolidates its ties with the World Tourism Organization as well. Uzbekistan entered this organization in 1993. The country, together with World Tourism Organization, organizes annual international tourist fairs, international conferences and workshops.
Agreements reached during the visit by the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization Taleb Rifai to Uzbekistan in October, 2010, favor the development of mutual cooperation and further consolidating of partnership in tourism sphere.
According to O’zbeturizm’s data, our country is able to receive about two million tourists. In this regard, the international tourism fair taking place in Berlin is the good opportunity for the exchange of opinions on even better usage of the tourist potential of our country.
