Two new world-class hotels will appear in Khiva and Samarkand, these cities are included in the list of top tourist cities of Uzbekistan.
Uzbek tourism plans to build a new four-star hotel Khiva Silk Road Hotel with 250 rooms in the old town of Khiva. Preliminary project cost is $ 9 million. It is estimated that this hotel will enjoy great popularity among tourists, as it will be located in one of the most visited tourist destinations in Uzbekistan - the old city of Khiva.
Another world-class hotel will appear in Samarkand. There will be held complete reconstruction of Samarkand Silk Road Hotel. The works include the reconstruction of the building, as well as renovations rooms and other facilities. According to preliminary estimates, works cost will be about $ 10 million.
Uzbektourism intends to attract foreign investors to perform work in two hotels.
Note that today in Uzbekistan there are about 241 hotels with a total of 7,310 rooms in the units and their total capacity is 12,847 seats. In addition, the number of private tour operators has increased in several times in the country over the past 17 years, reaching 700. Each year, the country is visited by over 400,000 foreign tourists. According to the forecasts of UzbekTourism the number of foreign tourists will increase to 1.2 million in 2015, since 1992, the volume of domestic tourism has increased from 461 thousand to 965 thousand people.
Today, there is a serious work to increase the volume of inbound and domestic tourism. In particular, along the national highway it is planned to build about 30 new motels and 20 campgrounds in 2015. Also the government is implementing an extensive program of reconstruction of architectural monuments throughout the country. So, just in Bukhara on the reconstruction of various historical monuments will be disbursed over 15.267 billion soom ($ 9.4 million) before 2020.
Separate role in increasing of the share of inbound tourism has played a number of bilateral agreements signed between the National Company Uzbektourism. Thus, the Uzbek company signed an agreement on tourism cooperation with the Association of Tour Operators in Italy (ASTOI), as well as the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism of Kyrgyzstan and the State Committee of Turkmenistan for tourism and sport.
