Uzbekistan is a Pearl of the Great Silk Road

Presentation of the tourist potential of Uzbekistan entitled Uzbekistan - a Pearl of the Great Silk Road took place in Israel.

The event took place in Ashkelon town. Opening the presentation, Beni Vaknin, the mayor, noted that Uzbekistan is world-wide known as the country with ancient history and culture. Architecture of Samarkand and Bukhara is rich in masterpieces of oriental architecture. As the mayor stated, the territory of modern Uzbekistan, situating on the crossroads of the Silk Road served as a bridge connecting East and West throughout the centuries. He emphasized that the Uzbek land became an intersection of different cultures and religions.

According to the deputy head of the city administration, Shlomo Cohen, the presentation of tourist potential of Uzbekistan will enhance the knowledge of native Israelis about the ancient culture and rich traditions of the Uzbek people ". He noted that the century-old history of different peoples living in Uzbekistan is a unique model of religious harmony and national tolerance. According to him, the interest to the country as one of the major tourist centers of Asia has recently grown in Israel.

During the presentation attendees were briefed on tourism opportunities in Uzbekistan the State policy carried out in the republic to revive and preserve national and cultural monuments of world importance, and detailed information about the sights of Tashkent, Samarqand, Bukhoro and Khiva.
The participants were distributed booklets "The tourism potential of Uzbekistan", "Tourism in Uzbekistan", "National cuisine and customs of Uzbekistan ", "The historical sights of Samarqand”, as well as the tourist map with the routes in the cities of the republic.
