There are more than 241 hotels functioning in Tashkent
According to the expert results statistics of Uzbekturizm, the level of domestic, outbound and inbound tourism service increased from 416.02 thousand people in 1993 to 965.7 thousand in 2010.
Traditionally, 27 September whole world celebrates the International Day of Tourism, which was established by the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in 1979 in Torremolino, Spain.
Since 1995, Uzbekistan is a member of the World Tourism Organization and has enormous potential for development of international tourism and has a rich tradition of trade-economic and cultural cooperation with many countries in the world.
Currently in Uzbekistan foreign guests are offered over a hundred of variety routes. Tourists can see the ancient cities, museums, religious and natural monuments, unique crafts centers, wise folk traditions and national holidays. There are also developed tours for lovers of mountain tourism, hunting and fishing, extreme sport travels, as well as there are many routes along the Great Silk Road, which is an important channel of International collaboration and brings together nations and peoples.
An important role of country's participation in various international exhibitions, fairs and conferences is to promote Uzbekistan Brand. Since 1995, the Tashkent International Tourist Fair "Tourism along Silk Road" is an effective means to attract foreign investments, which is growing tourism sphere in the country. This year’s fair will be the sixteenth time in Uzbekistan, which combines domestic and foreign professional tourist agencies pursuing common goals of improving and developing tourism industry by enlarging business partnership.
The 5th meeting of the UNWTO within the framework of “Tourism along the Silk Road”, which is going to be held on October 8-9 in Samarkand is a significant event of this year. The International Conference is dedicated to the development of tourism along the Silk Road and promotion of the tourist product under the brand name "Silk Road" to the world markets.
