Uzbek referee Ravshan Irmatov opens FIFA World Cup 2010

Uzbek referee Ravshan Irmatov’s whistle has opened the World Cup 2010 in Johannesburg.

According to the decision of the FIFA Referees Brigade, Central Asian referees were appointed to serve the first game of the World Cup, on June 11 in Johannesburg, where South Africa and Mexico played against each other.

Help for Ravshan Irmatov was given by his compatriot Rafael Ilyasov and Bahadir Kuchkarov from Kyrgyzstan.  

Ravshan Irmatov began his international judging career in 2003. He judged the youth world cup (2003, 2007 and 2009), and the Club World Championship in Japan in 2008.

In 2008 and 2009 Ravshan Irmatov was admitted as the best referee of Asia. He judged eight games in the qualifying tournament 2010 World Cup in the Asian region.
