New step for improving tourism infrastructure in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan is building a plant to assembly the German bus "Mercedes-Benz".
Joint Stock company “Uzavtosanoat" and German automotive group “Daimler AG” signed an agreement in Tashkent on the creation of a joint venture to manufacture buses.

The new German-Uzbek joint venture will produce tourism oriented, long distance, city and Mini buses. The closing of the agreement is scheduled for the third quarter of 2010.

JS Company “Uzavtosanoat” will provide enterprise production facilities. "Daimler Buses" will supply the chassis "Mercedes-Benz", and the bus body will be produced in collaboration with the long-time partner of "Mercedes-Benz" - the company "Manufacturing Commercial Vehicles" (MCV). This is stated in a press release of the Daimler Company.

Creating production capacities will allow producing at least 600 buses per year with the possibility of a phased increase. Assembling the first installment of busses scheduled for September 2010. All buses meet the requirements for issuance of Euro-3, which entered into force in Uzbekistan in January 2010.

It is assumed that the new joint venture will undertake the localization of production of automotive components. The parties will also assist the joint venture to develop its own sales network and after sales service. To support the export of products provides the use of existing distribution network of Daimler and JS “Uzavtosanoat” in foreign countries.
