The forum, organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the Malaysian national trust fund (MARA) and the International Association of Business Women, is dedicated to the development of trade-economic and investment cooperation. The heads of ministries and governmental institutions, which are responsible for trade, investment, health, fine arts, food industry, transport and transport communications, chemical industry, furniture industry, tourism, companies and corporations.
Opening the forum, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce of Uzbekistan Mr. Shaykhov noted that Uzbekistan pays great attention to improving the social status of women, supporting their participation in economical and political processes. There are significant results in enlarging the scope of activities of women in small business and private entrepreneurship, farming, science, medicine, education, upbringing, culture and art as well as the development of international cooperation.
Arrangements achieved during the meetings of the two state heads played an important role and legal basis for developing trade and economical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Malaysia consistently. State visit of President Islam Karimov to Malaysia in October 2005 brought mutual relations to a qualitatively new level.
The forum provides information on the priorities for attracting foreign investment into the economy of our country. Guests familiar with the process of privatization, are being gradually implemented economic reforms, development of small businesses and private entrepreneurship.
Uzbekistan and Malaysia have great potentials in tourism industry as well. Malaysian business is represented in Uzbekistan in 24 Uzbek-Malaysian joint ventures.
