Uzbekistan - ADB: Business Partnership
Uzbekistan has become a member of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in 1995. Over the years the ADB has allocated $ 1.170,9 million to Uzbekistan for the implementation of 25 projects. Thus, ADB has ranked first among other international institutions in terms of the existing loan portfolio.
In collaboration with ADB, the country has implemented numerous projects, particularly in the areas of transport infrastructure, energy, agriculture and municipal economy, small businesses and private entrepreneurship, as well as general, secondary special and vocational education.
ADB takes first place among the international financial institutions in financing projects in Uzbekistan. These projects aim to provide the population with drinking water, improvement of reclaimed land, school facilities, introduction of information and communication technologies in the educational system, modernization of transport infrastructure and supporting small businesses. Currently, the country is implementing several projects in the field of agriculture for the loan of the Asian Development Bank. Among these projects "Improving the productivity of grain crops," Improving the quality of reclaimed land in the Bukhara, Navoi and Kashkadarya regions",“Water Resources Management in the Ferghana valley and Zarafshan”.

The projects dedicated to support the development of infrastructure, as well as restructured farms in the area of Akaltynsk in Syrdarya region successfully implemented last year. The total cost of this project was $ 72.0 million, of which $ 36.0 million was ADB’s loan.
Cooperation between Uzbekistan and ADB, developing in the framework of multilateral relations. The bank coordinates the activities of other international financial institutions in the development of regional cooperation in Central Asia in such priority areas as energy, trade and transport infrastructure.


43rd Annual meeting of ADB will be held in Tashkent during the period May 1-4, 2010.
