The General Assembly recognized the March 21, as International Day of “Navruz”
According to the preamble adopted on this occasion, the UN resolution, the feast of “Navruz”, which means "new day" will be celebrated on March 21, by more than 300 million people worldwide as the beginning of the new year.
Also, the resolution noted that “Navruz” is celebrated for more than three thousand years in the countries of Central Asia, the Caucasus, Black Sea, Middle East, the Balkans and other regions.
General Assembly was called upon UN Member States to examine the history and traditions of “Navruz” to disseminate this knowledge among the international community, and to organize annual celebrations on this occasion.
UN GA invites interested Member States and the United Nations, in particular its relevant specialized agencies, funds and programs, mainly on education, science and culture, and interested international and regional organizations to participate in events held in countries where “Navruz” is celebrated.
Recall that previously Welcoming the inclusion of “Navruz” in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage, UNESCO noted that this day symbolizes the affirmation of life in harmony with nature, awareness of the inextricable link between creative work and the natural cycles of renewal and a caring and respectful attitude towards the natural sources of life .
