Uzbekistan is purchasing two high-speed trains Talgo AVE 250

State joint stock railway company “Qzbekiston Temir Yollari” (“Uzbekistan’s railway”) and Spanish company Patentes Talgo S.A. has signed a contract to buy two new high-speed trains Talgo AVE 250.

Purchasing of these trains will be conducted from own funds of the State joint stock railway company “Qzbekiston Temir Yollari” (“Uzbekistan’s railway”).  Sum of the contract is valued 38 million euro.

It is planned that trains will be fulfilling its operations on the route Tashkent-Samarkand. In the frame of the contract, it is also mentioned that Patentes Talgo S.A. will take care of the servicing and training of machinists in Spain.  Operation speed of the trains is planned to be 250 km/h.

It will reduce the time of cruise which is now 3 hours20 minutes by ordinary train and help to improve tourism infrastructure as many travelers to Uzbekistan arrive to the country for sightseeing of Samarkand. Trains will be delivered to Uzbekistan in March-April 2011.
