Seven wonders of Uzbekistan
In 2006 citizen of Switzerland Mr. Burner Verber showed an initiative to update the list of Seven Wonders of the World.Our country proposed to include Registan Ensemble and Fortress of Bukhara in to the list of wonders from Uzbekistan. Unfortunately these wonders were not even included to the list of forty wonders of the world. Therefore newspaper “Bekajon” decided to determine seven wonders of Uzbekistan. “Bekajon” announced polling and considered its condition. According to the requirements the building should be built till the year 2000. The main criteria are Age, Originality and Condition till present time.  Other Mass Medias also got involved and started researching community opinion. Everyone tried to give their own versions and options. Consequently we have monthly published results of letters, telegrams and phone calls.After the completion one year polling period the final list as follows:1. Registan Ensemble.2. Mausoleum of Ismail Samaniy in Bukhara 3. Mausoleum of Shakhi Zinda in Samarkand4. Kaljan Minaret in Bukhara5. Bibikhanum mosque in Samarkand6. Ichan Kala ensemble in Khiva7. Opera and Ballet Theater named after Alisher Navoiy in Tashkent. Though, several well known objects were not listed in the strongest seven like Bukhara Arch, Guri Amir Mausoleum, Grand Fergana Canal, Tashkent TV Tower, hotel Intercontinental, Aksaray Memorial in Shakhrisabz and others.
