Japanese company ‘Sony’ has placed photos of "Ichan-kala" complex in Khiva on the front page of its web site as part of a joint project between the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan and "Cinemafors" company in order to popularize a rich historical-cultural heritage of the Uzbek people and let Japanese people learn more about Uzbekistan and its culture. "Ichan-kala" complex is in UNESCO list of the world cultural heritage. Promotion campaign started on November 3rd, 2009 at Sony’s www.sony.net (global site) and www.sony.co.jp (Japanese version) sites and will last till December 10th, 2009. It is expected that around 1,5 million people will visit site and have a chance to see a photo-gallery of "Ichan-kala".
Khiva has managed to preserve a number of ancient monuments, minarets, palaces and mosques. Today it is one of the busiest centers of the international tourism, with visitors coming to see more than 100 architectural monuments erected in V-VI centuries. This place is highly popular among Japanese tourists that make a lion share of visitors to this place.
The director of "Cinemafors" company Y. Ishikava has informed that in the middle of November they plan to place other photos of "Ichan-kala" complex. He also mentioned that "Cinemafors" is planning in the near future to take pictures of the other architectural monuments in Samarkand and Bukhara that were included UNESCO’s world heritage list. Project organizers believe that it will help to strengthen further the friendship between Uzbekistan and Japan.
