Tourist sights of Xorezm have replenished with one more new route: it is included "Ala-Uylik" (other name "Turkmenkal’a" – a Turkmen fortress) in it. Remained up to now walls of a dilapidated earthen fortress, stand nearby from highway Urgench-Khiva. «Ala-Uylik» is located in village territory of Gaybu that is in 5-6 kilometres from the regional centre of Xoresm of the Urgench city.  It represents a pise-walled fortress with eight-meter walls. The thickness of a wall makes one and a half meter. It was used simultaneously as an advanced post and a place of residing of garrison, and consisted of more hundred premises, in each of which one family» could take places, – the representative of regional administration has noted. 

As he said, a structure was build in the second half of XVII-th century when it has been allocated two sites for the moving to the Turkmen population in this district , one – nearby to channel "Shohobot", the second – on the bank of other channel "Gazavat" where has been constructed «Ala-Uylik». «The name of a fortress is translated as« a black-and-white yurta, a tent ». Turkmens living here played stories of Khiva khanate not the last role.

They belonged to the nomadic Turkmen tribes «ersari» , «yavmud», «taka» and «chandiri». From this settlement Khiva khans typed to themselves personal bodyguards, chiefs of protection. There were such celebrated personalities, as Aba Sardar Tangriberdy, Abiddin-khan among them. Turkmen leaders heroically battled for the independence of Khiva khan against armies of the Iranian shah, the Bukhara emir and the Russian imperial army.   The leader of a tribe teke Karadja Uralmurad has been awarded ranks of Inak (associate) of the Khiva khan in 1865.

The large horse groups number to two and a half thousand horsemen represented avant - guard of Khiva army in a wartime.  They protected borders and were engaged in taxation in a peace time.
