Uzbekistan is interested in expansion of cooperation with the European Union through Spain
The president of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov has meet with the king of Spain Juan Carlos in the capital of Kingdom of Spain Madrid on May, 26th.The exchange of opinions concerning on mutual relations and to the international problems representing mutual interest has taken place during the negotiations.
As inform the Spanish mass-media, the president Karimov during a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain Migelem Anhelem Moratinosom has declared that he intends to strengthen links between the European Union and the Central Asia during presidency of Spain in EU in first half of 2010. Spain and Uzbekistan considered joint projects in sphere of power, tourism, transport and water resources management.
Uzbekistan is interested in expansion of cooperation with the European Union through this country. Spain is a supporter of consecutive development of mutual relations with Uzbekistan which is the leading country in the Central Asia.Foreign policy departments of two countries carry out the regular consultations, contacts become more active between parliaments and ombudsmen.
In Uzbekistan a number of the joint Uzbek-Spanish enterprises, such, as Texkominvest (trade), Maxam Central Asia and Maxam Uzbekistan (the chemical industry), Balkan Eksport Import Asia (manufacture of building materials) operates. At the ministry of external economic relations, investments and trade of Uzbekistan are accredited representations of such large Spanish companies, as Preparado Alimenticios (food-processing industry), Atlas Consorcio (technologies of alternative energy). Spain is one of the reliable investment partners of Uzbekistan.
