From the long since Bukhara is the large centre of art craft. It is especially was famous for medno-stamping manufacture, jewels, art of manufacture of cotton fabrics, silk and a velvet, golden sewing art and the big assortment of household products of art value. During the existence Bukhara has brought the huge contribution to the development of a civilization and is included to UNESCO in lists of cities of the world heritage of the mankind.  The remained architecture of an ancient city represents a rare combination of monuments of the different epoch, reflecting development of national architectural architecture throughout 25 centuries.

By their general quantity Bukhara is considered the greatest open-air museum in the Central Asia, and is no casual is entrusted to it the right of carrying out of the international festival of national-applied art "Silk and spices". In a city have remained the traditions of manufacture of ancient fabrics of type well-known "altabas", "zandanechi", and also cotton fabrics, silk and velvet.  Medieval Bukhara was one of the large centers of golden sewing arts and was famous for masters-embroiders. The festival "Silk and spices" will pass from May, 15 till May 17th.

On it is expected the presence of participants and visitors from more than 20 countries of the world. They will see silks, embroideries gold, woodcarving, carpets, and other original crafts of 40 kinds of the national-applied creativity, ceremonies and traditions. - We have done big organizational and a spadework, - tells one of organizers of an exhibition "Silk and spices" R.Almeev. - All is ready to its opening. The help and support were rendered by the government, by Association of travel companies and a small-scale business, the Center of development of crafts.

In days of festival spectators not only will admire masterpieces of remarkable handicraftsmen, but also can get souvenirs for the memory.  For participants and visitors are prepared interesting programs with participation of actors, puppeteers, folklore ensembles, various photo expositions. Display of ethnographic clothes and fair of crafts will take place; there will pass presentation of fragrant east spices, wine tasting of the Uzbek masters. Competitions on «Kurash» become a holiday ornament. Within the limits of the festival "Silk and spices" is planned to spend together with the German part Days of music under the name "German-Uzbek meetings". They will acquaint the Uzbek public with musical and a theatrical art of Germany.
