900 thousand of tourists have visited Uzbekistan in 2008

During the traditional spring international tourist forum «Uzbekistan International Travel Workshop» has been declared that more than 900 thousand of tourists have visited Uzbekistan in 2008. This indicator is much more, than in 2007. During this period our country has been visited by 785 thousand of tourists. Strategy of development of the tourism developed in Uzbekistan will allow increasing quantity of tourists to 2, 5 million per year by 2015. By 2015, it is planned to get the profit gained from rendering of tourist services up to $1 billion. 

During the last international tourist forum hotel «The Park Turon» has been presented in our capital, which already will offer visitors of the Tashkent and foreign tourists the 120 comfortable numbers for the first time in May, 2009.During the business meetings professionals of tourist sphere, both domestic, and foreign, have carried on negotiations, come into new contacts, concluded contracts about cooperation, corrected the prices for a forthcoming season, discussed actions for advancement both own services, and a national tourist product of Uzbekistan.  

The next international tourist fair «Tourism on the Silk Road» will take part in Tashkent in October, 2009.According to the State committee on republics statistics, tourism-excursion services in relation to gross of the national product make up only 0, 6 %. According to expert estimations of the World tourist organization, now the capacity of tourist resources of Uzbekistan makes up to one million people. With a view of increase in a stream of tourists the International tourist fair is being held every autumn in Uzbekistan. 

In 2004 the office of the World tourist organization (WTO) has been opened in Samarqand. This office urged to co-ordinate efforts of the international organizations and the national tourist organizations of the countries located on the Great Silk Road. Besides, with a view of creation of a necessary infrastructure for development of tourist branch in Uzbekistan for last five years are placed in operation 17 large and average hotels, and also 20 small private hotels. Reconstruction of three hotels in Shahrisabz, Urgench and Tashkent is in progress.  

Nowadays, there are about 200 hotels in total on the territory of Uzbekistan which simultaneously can receive more than 30 thousand of visitors. There is over 350 organizations with a various pattern of ownership, from them the overwhelming majority - private concerns and agencies in Uzbekistan who have the license for employment of tourist business. In tourism sphere the greatest activity are showing partners from Germany, Italy, Poland and Turkey, who are building in Uzbekistan networks of hotels, provide their loading, export services, are engaged in advertising of Uzbekistan.
