Currently, scientists can't determine the exact age of Kuva, but according to some findings it has been proposed, that the first settlements on the territory of that future extensive site sprung up in the 4-3^th cc B.C.

Kuva is from the early middle ages period, and played an important role. Handicrafts flourished, pottery, jewelry, and metal processing in particular. Both Shakhristan and the Citadel had mighty defensive walls.

A few years ago, during an archeological expedition in the north of Shahristan, a residential area dating to the 7^th c. was excavated. A religious complex, including a Buddha temple and statue, were unearthed and opened.

This temple was ruined by the Arabs during their invasion of Central Asia. Today, Kuva is a fresh-looking town, 35 km from Fergana, covered in gardens and vineyards, and famous for its matchless tasty pomegranates.
